These thermomix dim sims are great served with a salad for a meal or perfect for finger food if you are entertaining. Make sure you make my Sweet Chilli Sauce to go with them.
I will be the first to admit that I really love dumplings and when someone asked me to do a dim sim recipe, I was like okay that sounds great but I already have a dumpling recipe and I kinda couldn't get past the deep fried dim sim that you get from the service station on a road trip! Tell me I am not the only one!
So I will admit I reluctantly tried this and I was so pleasantly surprised! They were so full of flavour and being steamed is so much better than deep fried. It didn't feel like a big greasy meal but was light, refreshing and certainly left us all wanting more.
Let me know what you think when you try them.
Ingredients
- 1 garlic clove, peeled
- 2 spring onions, quartered
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 20g oyster sauce
- 1 small tin water chestnuts, drained
- 3 Chinese dried sausages, quartered
- 100g cabbage or Chinese cabbage, cut into large chunks
- handful fresh coriander
- ½ teaspoon white pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 500g pork mince
- 30 square wonton / dumpling wrappers
- 800g boiling water from kettle
- soy sauce and/or ThermoFun Sweet Chilli Sauce to serve
Instructions
- Place garlic and spring onions into TM bowl and chop 3 sec / speed 8.
- Add remaining ingredients (apart from the pork mince, dumpling wrappers and water) and chop 2 sec / speed 6. Scrape down and chop 1 sec / speed 6.
- Empty the mixture into a large mixing bowl and add pork mince. Combine well with a large spoon (or your hands are very effective).
No need to wash TM bowl. - Oil Varoma trays to prevent sticking.
- Place a wonton/dumpling wrapper onto your hand and spoon 1 tablespoon of filling into the centre. With your hand, mold wrapper upwards to form a dim sim shape. Flatten the base as you place it onto the Varoma tray.
- Once tray is filled, pour boiling water into TM bowl and place assembled Varoma on top of TM lid and cook 15 mins / Varoma / speed 2.
Notes
The filling makes enough for approx. 30 dim sims.
Mixture is suitable for freezing.
Chinese dried sausages can be found in the Asian/International aisle in major supermarkets.
