If you haven't had a baby in NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) you more than likely know someone who has. We know that all Mums & Dads are thinking about, is their baby. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner it's just a distant memory.
Michelle and Rebecca know this too well and decided that something needed to be done. Whilst they can't make babies not have to visit NICU, what they can do is make sure that Mum & Dad are at least getting some nutrition while being with their babies in the NICU. Some of them are in hospital with their babies for up to 16 weeks, 12 hrs a day with no provision of food and drinks with flavour (hospital tea and coffee is the only thing available).
Michelle and Rebecca have got together with the NICU located on the lower north shore in Sydney to provide a brekkie bar. This means quick nutritious food available for Mums and Dads to have before heading to see their little one/s.
I am so excited to help get behind them and promote this amazing heartfelt initiative!
If you can spare $5 or even $1 to help these guys get some decent supplies & food then jump on their facebook page and follow their journey https://www.facebook.com/NICUFoodFromtheHeart2016/ & message them to find out how to make a donation.
Unfortunately, due to food safety concerns they have had to exclude home cooking and this gave birth to the idea of the Brekkie Bar.
"Sydney Neonatal Intensive Care Unit's Breakfast Bar".
The parent lounge in the Unit is in huge need of some very much needed TLC.
As you can see these don't invite any excitement or even joy or hopefulness! One of the objectives is to make the area relaxing, inviting and filled with hope so that parents can come in fill up not just with food, but their spirits as well.
A Brekkie Bar will be filled with fresh fruits, healthy cereals and grainy breads as well as the fridge stocked with fresh juices, yoghurts and chia pots is where we are headed for this project.
Here are a few photos of examples of what Michelle and Rebecca are wanting to do.
Please get behind this cause and send Michelle and Rebecca a message on their facebook page if you would like to donate $5.
The more people that donate, the more sustainable this project will be. Express an interest in contributing and Michelle or Rebecca will be in touch with their details.
Thanks soooo much guys! Let's pull together all our Christmas spirit and help put a comforting smile on parents that have to spend so much of the Christmas and New Year in hospital with their sick babies.
