If you are not aware, Thermomix Australia has been asked a question about what speed is allowed to be used when using the Varoma late last week on their Facebook page.
Since then Thermomix Australia has issued a comment – not a statement or press release – stating that TM31 Thermomixes are not supposed to go above speed 2 when using Varoma as per the manual.
This has caused A LOT of confusion as the manual states not to go above speed 2 but the recipes that have been tested by Thermomix and put out by Thermomix have the use of speed 3 and 4.
I have used these speeds under the assumption that it was safe to do – to now be told that it was/is unsafe and not per the manual’s instructions has me and a lot of other Thermomix users upset & perplexed.
I have again asked Thermomix Aust to please explain what the correct procedure to follow is and to try and get some clarification for myself as a Thermomix Recipe Blogger and for everyone else that is left scratching their heads.
This is the question I put to Thermomix Australia and this is their reply:
This was Thermomix Australia’s response:
Dated: 2nd April 15.23
Then this was the response from today (7th April) at around Midday:
Unfortunately it doesn’t answer any of the questions – other than the “recipes have been thoroughly tested” and they are “confident that they are fine to use.”
I am still left scratching my head as to WHY only speed 2?
What happens to the machine or myself if I use higher than speed 2?
What constitutes a recipe having been thoroughly tested?
Why would you suggest to use something other than the manufacturer’s recommendations?
Honestly, you don’t put diesel in a petrol car if the manufacturer says that it’s a petrol! Even if the service station has “thoroughly tested” the use of diesel – do you?
Therefore – this is me issuing a statement in regards to recipes that I have published that use speeds above 2 whilst using the Varoma.
***** THERMOFUN STATEMENT – THERMOFUN RECIPES CONTAINING VAROMA TEMPERATURE & SPEEDS ABOVE 2 FOR TM 31 MACHINES *****
Please note that all recipes published by ThermoFun using Varoma Temperature and speeds above 2 IF you choose to use them you are doing so at your own risk.
Sadly I can’t do a search on my website for any others that may be varoma/speed 3 – so if you have a TM31 and come across a recipe please let me know!
****** END OF STATEMENT *******
At this stage I have no idea what using speeds above 2 may do to your machine or yourself.
I have no idea if using speeds above 2 will void your warranty.
I have no idea if Thermomix Australia will be making an official announcement in regards to its recipes using speeds above 2 and the manufacturers recommendations.
All I know is I am sitting here with more questions than answers and until I hear otherwise, please refer to the above statement.
Please note: The TM31 must now be using the GREEN seal which can be purchased from TM Australia. Grey seals should NO longer be used, as they would definitely be more than two years old now. Seals should be replaced every two years as instructed in your manual.
