My name is Leonie and I am a devoted wife and a mother of two gorgeous children. We live on the outskirts of Melbourne and our adult children live in Sydney.
I bought my first Thermomix over 6 years ago. I wanted it because it looked as if it would help me feed my family some healthy and (some decadent!) meals. My life literally changed overnight once I had a Thermomix in my kitchen. I loved it – I was (am!) obsessed and couldn’t stop using it! I was amazed at how it gave me confidence to make things that I would never have even dreamed about making before owning a Thermomix.
I had HATED cooking with a sincere passion prior to owning a Thermomix. I was a packet and jar cook! My family were lucky to get dinner made from a jar of “Chicken Tonight” – it was a good thing that these jars came in various flavours so I could at least give the family some variety!
Now 6 years later, I have no commercial jars or packets in my fridge or pantry! I actually regret not taking a photo of my pantry before Thermomix (BT) and one after! I now make everything from scratch and LOVE cooking with a passion! It’s such a turnaround in my attitude that even I am amazed and often have to pinch myself – my mother (in her 80’s) especially cannot believe it and often says “Leonie I am glad I am still alive to see this change in you”! (Sorry Mum for broadcasting your age to the world!) 😉
After a couple of months of having a Thermomix in my kitchen, I still vividly recall the realisation that I wanted everyone in the world to have a TM, so I decided to become a consultant for Thermomix Australia in January 2012. There is nothing more rewarding than the feeling of delivering a Thermomix to a new owner and witnessing and sharing their excitement. I love my customers and love it when I hear about all the new things they have been making and how the Thermomix has changed their lives for the better with time saving and health benefits to say the least.
As a result of my excitement and passion for the amazing meals I was putting on the family table – I was busily sharing photos of my creations on my own personal Facebook wall – which according to my children (teenagers at the time!) was not at all cool! Their annoyance created some tense, yet fun banter when they saw me pull out my phone to photograph whatever I’d made! They then both nagged me to either stop putting things on my Facebook wall or to start a separate Thermomix page!
And so, ThermoFun Facebook page was born on August 10, 2012. On 1st January 2014, I began my blog at thermofun.com. ThermoFun on Facebook still remains as active as ever. It is most worthwhile for day to day questions; however, ThermoFun.com website contains all my recipes and is easy to search. 🙂
Creating this website has been bigger than Ben Hur, but we made it! I would like to offer all my very sincere thanks to Julie Mell for being the backbone of the creation of ThermoFun.com. Julie has been absolutely amazing and her talents, sheer hard work, sincere dedication and going way beyond the call of my expectations, still blows me away. Thank you, Julie, for all your support, encouragement, enthusiasm and most of all your ability, all the way from Far North Queensland down to where I am in Melbourne, in being able to keep me calm and level headed! Please pass on my thanks to your husband and young daughter for giving me so much of your time. We made it – and thank you so much! 🙂
Special thanks to my very supportive husband Steve and our two children John and Diana, for putting up with me while I was getting Thermofun.com off the ground. Thanks guys! 🙂
